Hey Guys,
I'm just wondering how the gig went... Crazed Lady and I talked about going, but we both wimped out - too tired from X-mas, Weather didn't look good, and would not stop snowing.
Hopefully you had a decent turn out, and your show was enjoyed by the locals in Bucktown/Wicker Park.
Also, here's hoping that you able to give away many downloads of your album.

Greetings Friends:
The self-produced/self-recorded/self-mixed album: "GERI" is finished.
- You can listen to it: here on the website; on Reverb Nation; and other places.(Facebook; iTunes?)
So --- At this point, we thought we'd be at loose ends at finding a replacement lead guitarist.
BUT-Stijn is staying with us - for the time being.
The band's dilemma is in reprieve.
We'll be out there soon - playing a proper live gig.
- Look for us in the Wrigleyville ' hood...as part of a three or four band…

Happy Summer To All!
It's pretty obvious that there's been quite a lull in the action - as far as Gene Yaas activities, as of late.
We are still working on the recording of our debut album. (actually, re-recording)
Ja! I'm a perfectionist(OR - I aspire to be one) - even though I often play and record while intoxicated.
Stijn used to be a perfectionist, but he's adopted the "it's good enough; I don't really care" attitude - which I admire.
Gene has mostly been golfing and showing up every other w…

It was a long night...and was made longer by some amateur kids who coulnd't start on time. Any other club would have kept the night going on time.

Special thanks to Chris King who stood in for Stijn, as he and a fellow Gene Yaas fan "Morgasm" wed in the Dominican Republic. Here is us toasting Stijn!. You will a…

Hey folks! The "Real" Gene Marteen here. I want to thank Marty Hitzeman (who has posted and acted on my behalf) for helping me to set-up this site. He has been like a father to me. Even though he doesn't agree with the bands direction and explicit lyrics, he defends my right to express myself. He is way to conservative.
So...what do we have. 3 new recording have been uploaded, She Goes Down, Carney and Law Class Blues. We are almost done with the new CD and will have a record release in April o…

What was the point Cloud Nines MB.Rusch? We asked you not to post your hgh propaganda here, yet you did anyway. You are not a savvy marketer and are destroying the very fabric social media and social networking is built on. You are now banned from GeneYaas.com MB.Rusch (MB.Rusch@gmail.co.uk). When you can behave like an adult, you can come back!

I just wanted to give a shout out and a thank you to EVERYONE who braved the snow storm and came out to see Gene Yaas, this past Tuesday. Even though it was a short set for us (Shuvit, Bangin, Geri, Law Class Blues) you all being there made it a great night. For those of you who didn't make it out, we missed you and hope to see you he next time around. As the food companies say, as for us at your favorite grocer, or maybe just tell your favorite bar to book us!
Thanks again!

Well folks with the help of cheap wine, Miller Genuine Draft and Bartel's MAC, we laid down vocal tracks for two more tunes. Shuvit (it's available on our website if we ever get around to recording it--Bartel Weit June '08) and Bangin. Shuvit is a follow up to Geri that finds our young lad hurt yet again by our local "Shim" Geri. Bangin is about a guy who thought he was getting away with "bangin" his girlfriends best friend only to find his girlfriend is "bangin" her best friend too (oh the huma…

I recently loaded a new version of Geri and some of you are probably wondering what's the difference betwen versions... Simple...The way the we record is we all play and I sing a scratch vocal track with the sole intent of getting decent drum tracks. Then we layer in guitars, bass, vocals, backing vocals, and lead guitar tracks....then we spend hours mixing and adding effects. wa-la a song...This one is pretty much done....probably some additional mixing and effects...but that's about it...Look…

If you are familiar with the musician/singer-songwriter/recording artist: Billy Joel - then you might know that one of his biggest selling; most critically acclaimed; and fan favorite records was his breakthrough album of 1977: "THE STRANGER"
- (The previous album: "TURNSTILES" is probably my favorite B.J. album)
There is now a re-issue/ remaster / box set edition available - which contains audio and video of vintage/period performances.
One - from British Television:
"The Old Grey Whistle Test…

I have to tell you when I opted to build a community instead of a website, I was pretty sure it was going to be Gene, Filippus, Stijn and Bartel and maybe 3 others. So, to have 4X that is a miracle. Help build the Gene Yaas nation. Spread the word...get a badge...put it on your Facebook, Myspace....or wherever else page.
So here is whats happening.....
Back on September 23, 2008 we started recording at Yaas Manor. I'll post up some rough mixes in various stages of completion and photos/videos.…

Hoi, Fans of Chicago Rock Gods: GENE YAAS, July, 10, 2008
Much love and joy to everyone!!!
The band is working semi-diligently, attempting to create some new sounds for your listening pleasure.(-OR - your straight-up OUTRAGE!!!)
Our songs are meant to be funny -(musically and lyrically, especially) - and slightly provocative.
As I expressed to some of the other guys in the band - (in the days following our first gig) :This is an exciting time to be in G.Y. - and I think everyone who came to o…

Hoi Again:
So . . . I was just thinking of other popular songs about gender confusion / gender uncertain encounters.
"Geri" - continues in the great tradition of songs like:
1.) LOLA: by The Kinks. "I know what I am and I bet I'm a man - but so is Lola"
"Girls will be boys and boys will be girls - It's a mixed up muddled up shook up world."
"Well, I'm not dumb but I can't understand why she walks like a woman and talk like a man,Oh my Lola"
2.) ANDROGYNOUS: by The Replacements/Paul Weste…
